BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (May 30, 2013) – Flood International Consulting Agency (FICA), in partnership with Florida-based The Bonati Institute, has proposed the establishment of several spine surgery centers outside the United States. The agreement was facilitated by FICA Founder and President Dr. Jarrett Flood through his association with key government officials and healthcare providers in various foreign countries.
“In conversations with various officials and doctors, it was apparent there was a medical need outside the U.S. for the kinds of surgical procedures pioneered and perfected by The Bonati Institute,” said Dr. Flood. “We are pleased to enable more patients to receive life-improving spine surgeries as a result of this historic initiative.”
The plan calls for establishing surgical facilities in select countries, the training of foreign surgeons in The Bonati Institute’s proprietary techniques and instrumentation, and offering eligible patients in those counties advanced spine surgery procedures to correct problems of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.
The Bonati Institute was founded in 1985 by Chief Orthopedic Surgeon Alfred O. Bonati, M.D., who advocated for and pioneered arthroscopic surgery to minimize scarring, infection and bleeding and reduce recovery time. The Bonati Institute techniques are now practiced and accepted standards of care for orthopedic and neurosurgery patients across the country and overseas.
China and the State of Qatar are being evaluated as new surgery center locations.
The two organizations are also collaborating on other projects.
